One way to actively enter
student life is through participation in student activities. All full- and
part-time students are encouraged to become involved in student activities, which include
fun-filled educational, cultural, and recreational programs and events. Student
activities organizations and clubs are run by students for students, and are funded by a
portion of the consolidated fee.
Student activities provide an opportunity
to develop leadership skills, express your creativity, and form friendships while serving
the community and learning more about yourself. The time and commitment
involved vary from activity to activity. Decide which is best for you. Many
activities such as speakers, discussions, and workshops complement academics.
Each campus has a comprehensive student
activities program. Student activities comprises a Student Government
Association, Program Council, student publications, and a variety of clubs based on
student interests. In addition, the Student Activities Office sponsors special
events such as health fairs, cultural programs, and festivals on each campus.
Student activities are advertised on bulletin boards,
video monitors, the campus newspaper, and other outlets throughout the campus. You
may also contact the Student Activities Office on your campus to find out how you can
become involved. The Student Activities staff on each campus advises student
groups as they plan and conduct activities. If you have an idea for an event
you'd like to have happen on campus, let them know. They will be happy to work
with you.
